Lib Dems question closure of Community Information Centres

West Berkshire Council's Liberal Democrats are angry that the Council has closed its Community Information Centres in Burghfield, Hungerford, Lambourn, Mortimer and Thatcham during the month of August.

"The Centres are much appreciated by people who need to contact the Council but who have no car and find it difficult to get into Newbury. This is especially serious for residents of Burghfield and Mortimer as there is no direct bus service to Newbury from these communities," said Burghfield Councillor Dr Royce Longton.

"The closure of the centres because of "resource limitations" confirms that the Conservative administration is just too mean to provide decent services for our more vulnerable residents."
