Councillor Keith Woodhams has slammed a decision made by Conservative controlled West Berkshire Council not to use 20mph signs outside schools, giving the excuse that they are 'too tall'.

"I find it unbelievable that the Conservative Executive have dismissed these important safety measures on the basis that they are 'too tall'. The report from highways officers even states that they are 'effective in reducing vehicle speeds and alerting drivers that they are approaching a school. The signs if introduced would be rather tall'. It is an absolute disgrace that this important safety decision was taken on this basis."
