"Life in West Berkshire a risky business" - Hunneman3.25.15pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 3rd May 2008
Liberal Democrat Opposition Members were left in hysterics at last week's Executive meeting when the Conservative administration considered the district's risk register. Deputy Lib Dem Leader Roger Hunneman explained why: "People should take care in May as it seems that a number of catastrophes are scheduled to hit West Berkshire in the next month. Anything scoring a three on this risk register is 'very likely to impact on the Council in the next month' - this includes a major environmental incident in the local area causing significant disruption! It is news to me that Mystic Meg sits on the Tory front bench but in any case we think the residents of West Berkshire should be told about these impending disasters. "On a more serious note, this flawed report also predicts significant problems in the St Bart's rebuild also in the next month. There is obviously a lack of confidence in this Risk Register - so is this actually the case? I call on the Conservative Administration to clarify the confusion about this important project."
