"New waste collections will be one month late!" - Jeffery

Councillor Owen Jeffery is sounding the alarm to West Berkshire residents expecting to have their plastic and card recycling collected from their doorstep.

"This is a disaster of Terminal 5 proportions for West Berkshire. New recycling measures have been put back another month because of Conservative controlled West Berkshire Council's failure to provide public information about the changes. Recycling of Green Waste has been put back even further. The Council's own waste task group admitted that more public promotion is needed before new services can start", explained Councillor Jeffery. "This is a disgrace. The Council's secretive nature has put new recycling plans back another month. Many local people are confused about the new recycling services - and rightly so. Conservative controlled West Berkshire council has made little effort to explain how the new measure will affect local people."

"My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I have been calling for clear public information about the new plans for months. By now Conservative controlled West Berkshire Council should be recycling plastics and card: instead they are recycling old excuses."
