'Council inertia' results in 'unreasonable delays'

Lib Dem Leader Jeff Brooks has blasted the Tory administration at West Berkshire Council for allowing, in their own words, "council inertia which results in unreasonable delays over minor actions".

Councillor Brooks explained the background to the report:

"A report from the Council's Safer, Stronger, Sustainable Policy Development Commission (SSSPDC) recommended a group of the council's most senior officers look further at this issue of delay, describing it as a 'problem'. The report, which came to last week's meeting of the Council's Executive, was hastily amended by the embarrassed Tory front bench."

"I have long been saying that constant and recurring delay and drift is the hallmark of this administration and now even they are saying the same thing! Let us hope that this is now resolved once and for all so that people are no longer waiting ridiculous lengths of time for the Council to act."
