Lib Dems field strong team to fight for West Berkshire2.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 4th Apr 2007
The Liberal Democrats have exclusively revealed they will be fielding a strong team of candidates to contest May's local elections. Predicting a close battle, Councillor Jeff Brooks introduced his team for West Berkshire: "The Liberal Democrat candidates for the May elections are a strong and dynamic group of people with a vast range of experience and one thing in common - they all live in the district and are committed to improving it for everyone. They include local and national business people, school governors, public sector workers, civil servants, pensioners and experienced councillors. "We will also benefit from the experience of David Rendel, who will stand for West Berkshire Council, bringing to the table 12 years as Newbury's MP along with his wealth of local knowledge and expertise." Newly-declared candidate David Rendel reinforced Councillor Brooks' comments: "I am looking forward to standing, especially alongside such a dedicated and hard working team. Liberal Democrats have a great deal to offer West Berkshire both at Town and District council levels, ranging from low taxes to free child bus travel - unlike the Tories, who are simply a one-trick pony."
