"Tory manifesto is 'bland, unimaginative and unambitious'" - Brooks12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 29th Mar 2007
Liberal Democrat Leader Councillor Jeff Brooks has lambasted the Conservative manifesto 'A better place to live', labelling it 'bland, unimaginative and unambitious'. "'For starters 'A better place to live' is brought to you by the man who doesn't even live in West Berkshire. This barely scratches the surface of a manifesto which promises nothing and looks backward rather than to the future of West Berkshire. Where are the big ideas? Where is the ambition to improve services?", Councillor Brooks asked. "West Berkshire Liberal Democrats are offering a whole host of commitments designed to make our community fairer, safer and greener - free bus travel for young people, local recycling centres, double the number of wardens and much, much more, all within a tight financial council tax commitment. The Tories make a vague tax commitment but fail to offer any firm commitments. Lib Dems are going the extra mile for West Berkshire this May."
