Hungerford Lib Dems are pressing the Tories to keep to the timetable for the new library

Early delays to the new Hungerford library development have attracted the attention of Hungerford ward councillor Denise Gaines, who has pledged to keep an eye on Tory West Berkshire Council now notorious for delay and drift.

Councillor Gaines commented:

"Car parks were closed pointlessly for 2 days for building work to start last week. However, no work began and I understand that it will now not start until next Monday. I would like to reassure Library users in Hungerford that the temporary library is still due to open on January 30th. Books don't need to be returned in this period so you won't be fined extra. I will continue to keep an eye on this important development for Hungerford and press the Tory administration to keep to the timetable."

The new Hungerford Library is scheduled to open in September this year. It will offer a wider range of books, DVDs, computers and will stay open for longer. It will also be home to a West Berkshire Council Information Centre as well as Hungerford Town Council.
