Tory MP - Build another road - "but don't ask me where"!

10.53.55pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 13th Jul 2005

In his first interview for the local media as the Conservative MP was asked by newburytoday.co.uk "What would you change about Newbury?" He answered "Far less than you might imagine. I would like to see a Western route but don't ask me where."

Following years of Lib Dem control the only thing the new MP can come up with is a scheme which would have to destroy much of the Northcroft area or Goldwell Park with either houses, or wildlife and parks under threat.

Local Lib Dems are totally opposed to any new Western route which would mean destroying houses or destroying nature.
