A dossier on the first 100 days of Conservative control of West Berkshire Council was launched last weekend at a summit of West Berkshire Liberal Democrats. Compiled by Councillor Jeff Brooks, Leader of the Opposition and Councillor for Thatcham West, and entitled "Delay, Cover-Up & Broken Promises," it lists the top ten failures of the new Conservative administration and by contrast highlights just some of the many successes achieved for local people through the Council by the Lib Dems. Councillor Jeff Brooks said: "Since winning power Conservative policies have provoked unease and dissatisfaction locally. They have come under fire from a range of local people from local traders to the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education. West Berkshire needs firm positive leadership that listens to local people; I am willing to give that Leadership. "Liberal Democrats are eager to consult and listen to local people. In the coming months we will be developing our manifesto for the 2007 elections and are open to ideas from everyone regardless of political persuasion. I want to hear from people who would like to be involved in our victory as well as all others who have ideas on how to further improve West Berkshire." Residents can contact Jeff Brooks to offer their views on how to improve West Berkshire by emailing jbrooks@westberks.gov.uk or writing to him at Jeff Brooks, Leader of the Opposition, Council Offices, Market Street, Newbury, RG14 5LD.
