Liberal democrat controlled Newbury Town Council introduced the Newbury Town Civic Award 15 years ago and four years ago launched the Newbury Town Young Persons Civic Award for anyone up to and including 25 years of age. Both awards run along side each other and are presented each year to an unsung hero, who in the opinion of a panel of judges has made an exceptional contribution to the improvement of our community.
The deadline for entries is March 9th with the awards scheduled to be presented at the town council's annual meeting at the town hall on March 26th at 7pm.
Nomination forms are available from the town council website at www.newbury.gov.uk or by calling the council on (01635) 35486.
Local Liberal Demcorats are committed to giving recognition to volunteers, social enterprise and individuals who commit their time and resources to making a better Newbury for us all.
Managing director of the Swift Group, who sponsor the young persons award, Adrian Smith said: "Newbury is a fantastic town and we should celebrate that and the people in it who do great things. The winners will become part of the history of the town."
We hope this year will be a record year for applications.
