West Berkshire's Lib Dems have pledged to double the money in this year's Conservative budget for drainage clearance and improvements.
Public Protection Shadow Spokesman Roger Hunneman commented:
"We want to show the Lib Dems' commitment to working hard to prevent a repeat of last July's floods so we are doubling the amount in the Tories' budget to £100k in our alternative budget proposals. In our budget proposals last year we also pledged £100k for drainage works, but the Tories voted it down. If they had not done this, the effects of July's floods might have been eased. This proposal shows consistency and commitment from West Berkshire's Liberal Democrats."
