Lib Dems have launched local area priorities to complement their main manifesto pledges
West Berkshire Liberal Democrats have launched their 'local area mini-manifestos' in the run up to next month's district and town council elections.
Lib Dem leader Jeff Brooks explained the reasons for the local priorities:
"West Berkshire is a very diverse district and different areas within the district have very different needs. Hence we have put together priorities for our Councillors to work towards over the next four years that really matter to the people they represent. For example, certain priorities in Newbury might not be so important to Theale residents, who are more easily able to access Reading services and facilities. We have big ideas in the main manifesto and this shows our attention at the local level."
The local area manifestos cover five areas; Hungerford and the villages, Newbury, Thatcham, Theale and the East, and Burghfield.
Theale Councillor and candidate Alan Macro welcomed Theale-specific priorities.
"I've worked hard for Theale residents for many years and these area priorities show my ongoing commitment to achieve what Theale residents want to see in their town. I am particularly keen to increase the numbers of wardens on our streets and looking to improve our roads."
