Do you think the new waste site should be located at Abbotswood?
Councillor Jeff Brooks, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on West Berkshire Council, has today put down a motion which will come before next week's meeting of full council, proposing to defer the planning application to the February meeting of the Western Area Planning Committee. Liberal Democrats have devised the motion in order to allow time for the Tory Administration to undertake full consultation with local residents.
Councillor Jeff Brooks commented:
"We have received streams of complaints from Greenham residents, concerned they have not had a fair and proper chance to have their say over the proposals to locate a waste recycling facility at Abbotswood. The Tories at West Berkshire Council, have as usual, failed to take account of public strength of feeling and opinion - whether it is because they are too lazy to undertake thorough consultation, or simply don't care, I don't know. What I do know is that this motion makes an entirely reasonable request to defer the application for just one meeting in order to give enough time for the Tories to consult as they should have done straight away."
