Green tax switch week starts on 21st October
Liberal Democrats across West Berkshire are this week getting ready for a whole series of events designed to promote green thinking and green behaviour as part of a nationwide 'Green' campaign, which will last for a fortnight.
Councillor Julian Swift-Hook, who represents Greenham ward on West Berkshire Council, welcomed the series of local green events lined up:
"I am delighted to be a part of the positive action campaign launched by the Lib Dems. This 'Green' week will help people re-evaluate the way they think about consumption and show them that greener living can also be cheaper living. 63% of the population approve of new green taxes to discourage environmentally damaging behaviour . I would like to urge people to pay the stalls a visit and learn more about what can be done to save our planet."
The events organised by local Liberal Democrats include:
22nd October - Green stall and car boot sale at Turnpike Road, Thatcham from 9am. Leaflets and green tax switch petitions will be available.
26th October - Newbury Green Tax Switch stall on the Water Bridge next to Northbrook Street, Newbury between 10.30 and 14.30. Get more information about the Green Tax Switch and sign the petition!
28th October - Newbury Green Tax Switch stall with Sharon Bowles MEP. Sharon will be launching the stall at 10.30, and the stall will be providing green info until 14.30.
