Hungerford parking ideas are going on show

Councillor Denise Gaines, who represents Hungerford ward on West Berkshire Council, is encouraging Hungerford residents to come along to the exhibition displaying the results of the recent Parking Review carried out by West Berkshire Council's Highways department.

The ideas and proposals will be on show on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th September, from 2-7pm each day at the Magistrates' Room, Corn Exchange, Hungerford.

Councillor Gaines said:

"I would like to urge everyone to get involved with this - when local residents wrote to West Berkshire council about the Local Development Framework in Hungerford, changes were made and things got done. There is real people power in Hungerford and both myself and my colleague Councillor James Mole will be available during the exhibition to answer questions and take on board any concerns."

Councillor Gaines outlined a number of parking ideas which have been suggested so far:

"Possibilities include engineering parking so that people use the car park most appropriate to their length of stay, then structuring parking charges to match this. Or moving towards low cost parking for the first half hour is another idea which could be introduced. Questions like where do you think yellow lines should go? Has the survey got it right for your street? Your input is needed!"
