Prudent Lib Dem Budgeting wins additional road funding

Responding to the news that West Berkshire Council is to invest £1.2m on roads improvements, Cllr Denise Gaines (Shadow Executive Member for Finance) said, "Without prudent Lib Dem budgeting and financial management this roads investment decision would not have been possible. We warmly welcome a further boost to roads spending. The Conservatives tried to spin the announcement as £2.5m extra but only £1.2m of this is new money for roads."
The funds had initially been set aside to boost the Council's reserves by the Conservatives - Lib Dems raised questions on whether this money was earmarked to become an election war-chest.
