Hard working, local campaigners Jenny Weaving and Patrick Denys have won the Lib Dem nominations to fight the Thatcham West Town Council by-elections due to be held on 27th October 2005. The two campaigners received the backing of West Thatcham District Councillor Jeff Brooks and Keith Woodhams.

Lower Way resident and mum of two Jenny Weaving has lived locally for 40 years. She previously gained experience working for residents as a Councillor on Newbury Town Council.
Patrick Denys, who lives in Thatcham with his wife and children, has been a Thatcham resident for 20 years and is passionate about his town. He is also a Business Development Manager, for James Halstead Ltd.
Jenny Weaving said "It was great for Patrick Denys and me to get the the overwhelming support of Lib Dems in Thatcham, especially hard working local councillors Keith Woodhams and Jeff Brooks. We will work hard to improve community spirit and clean up the area."
Patrick Denys added "The top priority for Jenny Weaving and me is to work with Jeff and Keith to tackle the menace of anti-social behaviour which is linked to the issue of respect for the community at large, which we know from talking to local people is the top concern. Speeding cars and local concerns about dog poo are also major issues that we want to tackle."
The by-election will be held in half term on Thursday 27th October 2005. Residents, especially those likely to be on holiday that week, should apply for Postal Votes from the Council on 519464 or electoralregistration@westberks.gov.uk
