The Council has shut down its Revenues and Benefits system for 5 weeks whilst changing to improved computer systems.
This is highly likely to affect anyone applying for new benefits or a change in circumstance review of benefits at the moment. Existing claimants should be unaffected and get their benefits at the level they currently receive them over the 5 weeks.
Concern was expressed by LD members when this was first raised that benefit claimants are amongst the most vulnerable and any delay in the Council getting them what they need could cause hardship.
