Council tax - you decide!

"The people will decide" was the message coming from the Liberal Democrat leadership of West Berkshire Council, this week, as the "war of words" over Council Tax escalates in West Berkshire.
Council Leader Royce Longton commented: "Now that all three parties have shown their true colours, the people have a very simple choice to make about Council Tax - axe the tax, or the Conservatives and Labour will make you pay more than ever. They both agree that there should be a 'revaluation' in line with increasing property values- meaning your bill will increase by up to £300 each year"
Dr Longton added "The Liberal Democrats oppose Council Tax entirely and would Axe Council Tax and replace it with a Local Income Tax based on ability to pay. The average household would then pay £450 per year less, and only the most affluent 25% of households would pay more.
"So whatever party you normally support please back David Rendel, your only choice if you want to get rid of Council Tax."
